Behavioral Health Technician

About the position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a non-traditional way of providing intense individualized mental health interventions and support services in a variety of community-based settings to children/adolescents with psychiatric diagnoses and their families. These settings include, but are not limited to home, school, community settings (camp, daycare, etc.). The BHT is supervised by a Qualified Mental Health Professional, participates as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, and implements specific treatment goals. Their goal is to implement sound clinical interventions and supportive services to enable children/adolescents to maintain and function to the best of their ability in the least restrictive setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized mental health interventions and support services to children and adolescents.
• Work in various community-based settings such as homes, schools, and camps.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Implement specific treatment goals as directed by a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
• Assist children/adolescents in maintaining and functioning in the least restrictive setting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and ability to complete 40+ hours of training OR
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in provision of behavioral health services OR
• Behavioral Health Certification or Behavior Analysis Certification from an accredited organization OR
• Certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT)
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with a clean driving record and auto insurance.

Nice-to-haves

• Bi-Lingual is a plus but not required.
