Demonstrate effective milieu management and accompany patients to meals, breaks, off‑unit visits, and appointments. Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions, including belongings inventory, visitation, and vital signs. Document property at admission and discharge, conduct safety checks, and promote a clean, therapeutic environment. Encourage patients with activities of daily living and facilitate or co‑facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups. Apply crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques and maintain knowledge of program policies and procedures. Provide orientation and mentorship to new staff members, serve as a preceptor, and train colleagues on group facilitation and maintaining a therapeutic milieu. Employ therapeutic communication, assess patient needs related to chemical dependency, and document plans of care from admission through discharge. Participate in treatment planning as part of the interdisciplinary team and perform other duties as assigned. Serves as a member of the planning team under RN direction and acts as a resource and role model for other staff.
