About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician I position at Vitality Unlimited involves working closely with consumers in detoxification and residential treatment for substance use disorders. Requirements

  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health.
  • Good people skills, telephone etiquette, and communication skills.
  • Maintain certification as a Detoxification Technician as required.
  • Problem-solving abilities and skills using best practices judgment.
  • Adaptability to address varying consumer needs.
  • Familiarity with de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Valid Nevada driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform independently.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners.
  • Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies; capable of using electronic health records.
  • Ability to follow up on all assigned tasks until completed.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Consistently provide a negative drug screen from all illicit substances.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Vitality Unlimited policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Remain on site and fully awake while on duty.
  • Use equipment to read and interpret vital signs accurately.
  • Ensure consumers comply with Community Guidelines for Healthier Living.
  • Admit consumers to detoxification using set criteria.
  • Monitor and enforce assigned consumers' chores.
  • Accurately record and report consumers' whereabouts, behaviors, medication received, and vital sign readings.
  • Respond to emergencies within the scope of training.
  • Conduct consumers' admissions and discharges according to policies and procedures.
  • Conduct orientation of new consumers to the facility and room assignments.
  • Set and check alarm systems, conduct security checks of the building and perimeter.
  • Complete cleaning chores as assigned by supervisor.
  • Inventory supplies as needed.
  • Transport consumers to approved activities or appointments.
  • Perform clerical duties as required by supervisors.
  • Maintain CPR certification as required.
  • Follow the Code of Ethics as stated in NAC 641 C.
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements as set forth in CFR42 Part I & II and HIPAA.
  • Work various shifts, usually less than forty hours per week with additional time as required.
