About the position

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in providing supervision and ensuring the safety of patients in a behavioral health unit. This position involves building rapport with patients, assisting them in group settings, managing individual issues, and documenting their progress. The technician is also responsible for identifying when professional services may be needed and communicating these findings to the appropriate staff, all while adhering to the standards of patient communication as outlined by Pipeline Health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and ensure the safety of patients.
  • Build rapport with patients to foster a supportive environment.
  • Assist patients in group activities and address individual problems.
  • Set limits for patient behavior and enforce them appropriately.
  • Document patient progress and any significant observations.
  • Identify the need for professional services and communicate findings to staff.
  • Contribute actively to department operations and communications.

Requirements

  • Prior work experience in behavioral health treatment settings, especially with adolescents.
  • Experience in clinical settings treating anxiety and OCD, preferably with CBT techniques.
  • Strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer skills and capacity to learn new systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with exposure therapy settings.
  • Familiarity with AIDET patient communication standards.
