About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care and supervision to adolescent clients (ages 12-17) in a Behavioral Health Residential Facility (BHRF). This position ensures a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment in alignment with each client's individual treatment plan, while promoting recovery, emotional growth, and behavioral health stability. Currently looking to hire for our weekday overnight shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of four consecutive years of experience in a behavioral health setting working with adolescents, or possession of a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) certification, is required.
  • Must meet Arizona BHT qualifications per ADHS standards (R9-10-101 et seq.).
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification - current or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Central Registry Clearance (Arizona Department of Child Safety).
  • Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (issued by DPS).
  • Current TB Test within the last year.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and clean driving record (if transport duties required).
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Health, or related field.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience working with youth in residential, group home, or inpatient settings.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and therapeutic support to adolescent clients in residential treatment.
  • Implement and document individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques following CPI guidelines.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate group activities and life skills education.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times, including regular room checks.
  • Accurately complete shift reports, incident reports, and client progress notes.
  • Administer medication (if certified/allowed under facility policy and state law).
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and support teams, including participation in treatment planning meetings.
  • Transport clients to appointments or recreational outings (if required).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility.
