Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), 1st shift Classification: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt GENERAL SUMMARY: Behavioral Health Techs are responsible for monitoring Serenity Haven residents. This duty includes knowing where the residents are, insuring they are acting safely and following rules/guidelines. BHT's are also responsible for completion of documentation of the BHT Log, Service Activity Log, Incident Reports, Urinalysis Drug Screens and other basic documentation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS: BHT’s are expected to be alert and attentive throughout the shift. She is expected to work nights and weekends and holidays, based on shift availability and preference. BHT's must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. BHT's are exposed to high stress situations and must interact well with staff and clients. BHT's must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, reaching, walking, and respond quickly in emergency situations, including the ability to perform CPR. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Observe and document changes, unusual events, violations of rules/guidelines, and other notable incidents, related to a resident’s behavior occurring during her shift. Safely operate 15-passenger van to transport residents to and from support meetings and events. Provide residents access to their medications and document residents’ self-administration of medications. Perform and document SUD Case Management services where appropriate. Develop and monitor afternoon recreational activities as assigned. De-escalate situations when a resident demonstrates aggressive or harmful behavior. Provide security by frequently monitoring Serenity Haven buildings, grounds, offices and vehicles. Inventory resident belongings at time of admission and when returning from pass. Screen and document visitors to Serenity Haven according to confidentiality guidelines. Perform urinalysis drug screens and alcohol swabs as requested by clinical staff. Monitor the quality of household chores completed by residents. Review BHT Log and coordinate services with other Serenity Haven staff at shift change to ensure continuity of care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and the ability to be insured by agency provider. Ability to provide and document SUD case management services. Understanding of co-occurring SUD and MH disorders and recovery. High school graduate. Understanding of RSNWO and HIPAA confidentiality law, policy and guidelines. Subject to a pre-employment BCII criminal background check and every 5 years thereafter. Subject to a pre-employment drug screen and random or incident related drug screens throughout employment with RSNWO.
