The position involves applying specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including severe mental illness in adults. The role requires the use of various treatment methods, including individual, marital, couple, family, and group therapy, as well as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and an integrated behavioral health model of care. The candidate will utilize the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and other diagnostic classification systems in their assessment and diagnosis activities. In addition to direct counseling, the position entails assisting team members in employing motivational interviewing techniques and collaborating with Wesley Nurses and community clinics to provide integrated care services aimed at enhancing client health and mental health outcomes. The individual will be responsible for the provision of counseling services, program supervision, and coordination of counseling services, ensuring effective execution of the counseling program by monitoring program staff. The role also includes determining client eligibility based on a sliding fee scale during the initial intake session and referring clients not eligible for services to appropriate providers. The candidate will supervise the identification of community resources, manage case management services, and promote communication with Wesley Nurse programs and other community agencies. Analyzing program data and producing reports for the Methodist Healthcare Ministries Regional & Clinical Counseling Manager is also a key responsibility, as is coordinating field team activities to maintain quality assurance indicators for the counseling program. The position requires the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with clients and families, as well as the creation of cumulative records for each client receiving counseling services. The candidate will develop intervention strategies to meet both short-term and long-term treatment goals and oversee all administrative aspects of the counseling program, including supply management, office space security, fee collection, and coordination with Wesley Nurses at church sites.
