About The Position

The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) is responsible for the safety of all clients and the facility, supporting clients towards their treatment goals, and reporting any required maintenance of the facility. The PRN Behavioral Health Specialist will perform all duties and responsibilities of the BHS on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; AA Degree preferred.
  • BHT Certification preferred
  • 1 -2 years of experience working with behavioral health or substance abuse clients
  • Must be able to provide at least 4 shifts for scheduling availability per month to remain active as a PRN BHS staff
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate within 90 days of hire
  • Possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Proficiency in learning Electronic Health Record
  • Negotiate stairs and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem- solving and organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team approach.
  • Must understand the recovery process of the chemically dependent individual

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working with the Native American population preferred
  • Bilingual- Spanish desired

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and security of clients in a residential treatment setting
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to support and assist clients in the achievement of their individual service plan goals
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, recovery-oriented therapeutic environment
  • Provide intervention and support including listening, redirection, and guidance
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural diversity and boundaries
  • Observe and accurately document assistance in the self-administration of medications for clients
  • Document daily client activity in milieu progress notes
  • Observe and document client head count in Bed Check log
  • Document and submit incident reports in a timely manner
  • Communicate verbal and written shift change reports
  • Assign and monitor client life skills and light housekeeping duties daily
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and life skills groups as assigned by supervisor
  • Transport clients to community appointments or outings in NAC agency vehicle as needed
  • Accompany and support clients during community 12 Step meetings, recreational activities, and cultural community activities
  • Monitor and respond to video surveillance, ensuring safety for clients
  • Scan documents into individual client electronic medical records as needed
  • Support and actively engage in practices of inclusion through Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS)
  • Attend and participate in regular clinical staffing meetings and clinical oversight
  • Other duties as assigned
