About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Behavioral Health Psychologist/Senior Behavioral Health Psychologist, UNLV Student Wellness [R0150026] ROLE of the POSITION The Behavioral Health Psychologist (BHP) delivers a variety of brief clinical mental health care interventions on site in the UNLV Student Health Center (SHC). The SHC is a AAAHC accredited clinic within the Student Wellness Unit, which includes the Student Counseling and Psychological Services, Care Center, Wellness Promotion, Disability Resource Center, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Military and Veterans Services Center. This Behavioral Health Psychologist/Senior Behavioral Health Psychologist role offers a unique opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, integrated service model dedicated to serving a diverse student population. This is a full-time, 12-month position. General responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to receiving warm hand-offs from medical providers, triaging students presenting with mental health concerns, conducting initial clinical assessments, administering brief evidence-based interventions, providing acute crisis assessments and interventions, when necessary, which may include voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations, and providing treatment recommendations and referrals when indicated. The BHP also facilitates psychoeducational groups and workshops appropriate to the primary care setting to address student behavioral health needs identified within the SHC. The BHP works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health providers and provides substantive contributions to patient/client care and the medical team.

Requirements

Behavioral Health Psychologist: This position requires a PhD, PsyD, or related doctoral degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and one year of professional experience at the doctoral level of independent practice. Licensure as a psychologist is required, and Nevada licensure is required prior to the start of employment.
Senior Behavioral Health Psychologist: This position requires a PhD, PsyD, or related doctoral degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and five years of professional experience at the doctoral level of independent practice. Licensure as a psychologist is required, and Nevada licensure is required prior to the start of employment.
All candidates must pass a background screening.
Employees of the UNLV Student Wellness Center must be in compliance with the Student Wellness Center Employee Exposure to Communicable Disease (Prevention of) Policy.
