We have many pediatric patients who are receiving medical care primarily, while also presenting with co-occurring mental health needs that may require additional consideration and planning. Our Behavioral Health nurses respond to support requests, bringing their expertise so that we can be sure to provide the best and safest care for all of our patients and families. Functions with demonstrated expertise in patient care for mental and behavioral health. The nurse provides direct clinical care and support within the behavioral health realm. As a recognized resource for consultation to the bedside staff, the nurse assists assessment, clinical management, communication, crisis prevention, regulatory readiness, and evidence-based care practice. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promotes a safe environment.

Requirements

Registered Nurse, RN license issued by the state of Wisconsin
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred, but Associates degree in Nursing considered.
Requires at least 1 year of experience in nursing .
Requires 1 year experience with patients having co-occurring behavioral health presentations, or in psychiatric or behavioral health
Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Experience working with children, adolescents, and families
Experience working with diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision.
Understands the pediatric developmental stages and child/family responses to fear, illness, injury, and hospitalization.
Analytical skills are necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.
Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
Ability to delegate patient care activities effectively to unlicensed staff as appropriate and where indicated.
The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
Mental and sensory abilities to read, process and interpret clinical data.
Flexible to ambiguity and unpredictability of patient presentations/needs.
