About The Position

The Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Program Manager/Counselor to provide mental health intake, intervention, case management, and crisis intervention services. This position involves documenting all client interactions, making referrals to other health professionals, overseeing PRC/(CHS) referrals for behavioral health services, and maintaining a client referral network. The role requires collaboration with clinical psychologists and medical directors, completion of required reports, and providing technical assistance to other tribal programs. The manager will also oversee the annual Behavioral Health Budget and manage behavioral health grants, ensuring compliance with state certification for substance abuse and mental health outpatient treatment services. The position requires adherence to tribal laws and policies, and the duties may change based on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in the Mental Health field.
  • Prefer dual certification/licensure in AODA and mental health, will consider Licensed Professional Counselor with training knowledge in Substance Use Disorders.
  • Completed 3,000 hours of supervised direct service to clients.
  • Must be licensable within the State of Wisconsin by the Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Worker Examining Board.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to Native American mental health issues and ability to provide culturally affirming practice.
  • Experience working with young children utilizing play, art, drama or similar therapies is preferred.
  • Ability to provide mental health services to a broad range of client ages and issues.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of family-based case management.
  • Knowledge and experience with behavioral health certification standards and procedures.
  • Managerial and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and written.
  • Must submit and pass a background security check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mental health intake, intervention, case management and crisis intervention services.
  • Documents all client interactions on appropriate forms within 48 hours using medical records policy.
  • Makes referrals to other health professionals and/or agencies as appropriate, including mandatory reporting.
  • Oversees PRC/(CHS) referrals for behavioral health services.
  • Develops and maintains client referral network.
  • Meets with Clinical Psychologist and Medical Director weekly to review caseload as required by state statutes.
  • Completes all required reports.
  • Provides technical assistance to other Stockbridge tribal programs as appropriate.
  • Completes community-wide Behavioral Health education program as requested.
  • Acts as a liaison with appropriate tribal, county and state agencies.
  • Prepares, manages, and monitors the annual Behavioral Health Budget(s), Grants budget and budget narratives.
  • Oversees the management of Behavioral Health grants.
  • Provides direct administrative supervision of Behavioral Health.
  • Keeps current on changes and maintains state certification for Substance Abuse and Mental Health outpatient treatment services.
  • Represents the Behavioral Health Department on internal SMHWC committees.
  • Collaborates with other S/M Tribal departments.
  • Oversees and monitors all contracts with outside vendors in the Behavioral Health Department.
  • Maintains an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  • Attends job-related, in-service meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Adheres to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
