About The Position

The primary responsibility of a Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is to provide rehabilitative and community support services for persons with cognitive impairments and functional limitations focusing primarily upon social, behavioral and functional skills as well as independent living skills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Driver’s License required.
  • Auto Insurance required.
  • Background Check required.
  • Smartphone with data for Electronic Visit Verification required.
  • Provisional Certification as a Behavioral Health Professional (must successfully complete Behavioral Health Professional Curriculum within 1 year of hire).
  • First Aid/ CPR certification.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in skills needed to care for children with cognitive impairments and functional limitations.
  • Must be able to work independently and to organize work efficiently.
  • Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Must be able to communicate and cooperate effectively.
  • Must have maturity to deal effectively with the position requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitative and community support services as outlined in the Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) to increase skill development and adaptive behaviors including but not limited to the following: Activities of Daily Living, Social Skills, Communication Skills, Safety Awareness, Behavior Modification, Coping Skills, Community Integration.
  • Provide documentation of services.
  • Serve as a valuable member of the Interdisciplinary Team to assist in the development/revision of the ITP.
  • Provide feedback related to goal progression.
  • Assist in identifying barriers to care.
  • Assist parents/families in understanding child behavior.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team.
  • Comply with mandatory reporting practices.
  • Participate in monthly supervision with the Child Services Coordinator.
