About The Position

Behavioral Health Professional Supervisor Opportunity: The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Supervisor is a lead role within Acute Care Services responsible for providing on-site leadership, guidance, and operational support to BHPs across all units providing direct care and services for individuals needing support, care, and treatment for mental health and/or substance use concerns. The BHP Supervisor fosters a safe, trauma-informed care environment by modeling best practices, supporting staff during high-risk interventions, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational standards. In addition to oversight responsibilities, the BHP Supervisor works regular BHP shifts and provides direct coverage when open shifts or emergent staffing needs arise.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field
  • More than two years of experience as a Behavioral Health Professional or in a similar role in behavioral health.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of de-escalation, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care
  • Physical ability to participate in restraints of patients when necessary
  • CPR certified or must obtain within 60-days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field.
  • Prior lead, charge, or supervisory experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission and applicable DHS regulatory standards
  • Experience training or mentoring staff
  • Experience with facilitating therapeutic groups and activities
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead or support individual and group activities that build self-care, daily living, leisure, social, and coping skills, improve self-esteem, and use therapeutic activities or de-escalation techniques.
  • Model effective methods and reinforce compliance with established treatment plans and care standards.
  • Support staff during patient crisis, medication pass, intakes/admissions, transports, and other high-risk or high-acuity situations
  • Conduct rounds on all units and monitor care delivery, ensuring adherence to protocols and best practices
  • Completes chart audits and other reviews to support continuous quality initiatives
  • Monitor compliance with medication handling practices (i.e. Schedule II audits, expired items, medication lists, etc.)
  • Oversee operational tasks such as food orders, refrigerator temperature checks, crash carts, supply orders, and equipment readiness
  • Provide coverage during transport or emergent staffing needs
  • Lead and participate in required drills
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of shift activities, safety events, and patient interactions
  • Communicate shift updates, issues, and incidents to program managers and interdisciplinary teams
  • Model adherence to NCHC policies, regulatory standards, and person-centered principles
  • Perform all duties of a Behavioral Health Professional as needed
