About The Position

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations, the Behavioral Health Outreach Worker is responsible for creating youth-driven and youth-led leadership initiatives focused on promoting wellness, supporting health, and preventing the harm caused by untreated mental illness. The goal is to foster positive cognitive, social, and emotional development, and to encourage overall well-being among youth aged 12 to 25.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or valid work permit

  • Reliable transportation or personal vehicle is required
  • Must have flexibility to work on evenings and weekends

  • An Associate’s Degree in Psychology with 1-3 years of experience working with at-risk youth population is highly preferred; High School Diploma and 2-4 years of experience in a mental health setting is required in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly

  • Successful completion of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
  • Successful completion of Workplace Violence Prevention Training
  • Successful completion of HIPAA Training

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all El Concilio California policies and procedures.
  • Organize and/or participate in outreach events throughout Stanislaus County to create opportunities for program recruitment and engagement.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with community stakeholders—such as resource centers, educational institutions, and advocacy organizations—to connect members with additional resources.
  • Provide peer support to link those who are experiencing early onset of mental illness to appropriate services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of program updates using multiple digital database.
  • Support program members in accessing essential services, including housing, food assistance, transportation, and mental health resources.
  • Help patients navigate the healthcare system by coordinating follow-up care, specialty appointments, and referrals.
  • Track program involvement and engagement by organizing workshops, activities, and events that raise awareness about mental health.
  • Become familiar with multiple public health websites and database to complete data input.
  • Create and regularly update flyers, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials to inform, train, and educate the community about mental health and available services and support.
  • Conduct stigma reduction engagement presentations using the public materials such as “Each Mind Matters” and “Know the Signs”.
  • Organize continuous youth-led groups that collaborate with young people to plan, co-design, set goals, and carry out engagement activities.
  • Host activities that help youth connect with their culture and understand how culture affects their mental health and well-being.
  • Partner with and involve families of program members to promote awareness and reduce the stigma around seeking mental health services.
  • Maintain a calendar of all community events planned throughout Stanislaus county.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and administration.
