About The Position

The Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinician is a full-time member of a diverse, interdisciplinary treatment team within a multicultural community health center. This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering cost-effective, patient-centered mental health services to individuals, families, and groups, with the goal of promoting optimal emotional and psychological well-being.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Independent clinical licensure preferred (e.g., LICSW, LMHC).
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy and commitment to working with underserved populations, including youth and families.
  • Knowledge of patient advocacy and local community service agencies.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and develop treatment plans with appropriate goals and interventions.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the use of EHR systems.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and access to a vehicle for community-based work.

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates (Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Spanish) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient referrals by conducting comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Communicate plans verbally and in writing with patients and document them in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintain a target of 28 billable hours per week, including individual, family, and group therapy sessions, as well as case consultations.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to the cultural and individual needs of patients and their families.
  • Provide psychoeducation on topics such as developmental stages, the emotional impact of chronic illness, and trauma.
  • Support patients in expressing emotions, exploring life challenges, and developing insight into their relationships and behaviors.
  • Guide patients in building coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage life stressors and mental health conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all treatment activities and clinical notes.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address issues such as substance use, life transitions, and emotional regulation.
  • Act as a patient advocate, coordinating services and responding to crises as needed.
  • Refer patients and families to appropriate community resources and specialists.
  • Stay current with developments in the field through continuing education, professional literature, and collaboration with other agencies.
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary care team meetings to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
  • Complete additional projects or duties assigned by the supervisor.
