About The Position

The Behavioral Health Nurse Director at Gramercy Court is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring high-quality psychiatric care within a secured inpatient treatment program. This role involves fostering a patient-centered culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet the needs of residents with behavioral health challenges.

Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN); RN preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in field of nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or moderate to severe mental illness preferred.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, mental health disorders, and treatment modalities.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with residents.
  • Experience in providing education and training to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise nursing staff in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to residents in a locked psychiatric setting.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for residents.
  • Develop and enforce nursing protocols and procedures in accordance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Lead and participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and residents.
  • Monitor patient care outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care activities, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
  • Provide ongoing training and education to nursing staff on psychiatric best practices, medication management, and therapeutic communication.
