About The Position

Kenneth Young Center - Clinical Internship (Master's Program) Kenneth Young Center offers several different clinical opportunities and is now accepting applications for the August 2026- May 2027 academic year; with several rounds of interviews January-March. KYC is seeking student interns in the Behavioral Health Department for a variety of programs, including: adult or child/adolescent outpatient therapy, community services, crisis teams, recovery/housing teams, and intensive group services. Only one application is needed to be considered for all programs; cover letter highly recommended. Interns are required to provide 20-25 hours per week and run August thru May 30. Job Scope: Join a diverse team of counselors and social workers providing mental health services in a collaborative and welcoming community outpatient setting. Engage clients in therapeutic and case management services aimed at supporting clients in meeting goals, stabilizing and improving mental health symptoms, and functioning independently in the community. Some programs require driving and field-based response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Psychology, Social Work, or closely related discipline required.
  • Must be in an accredited graduate program and in a Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling program, or closely related discipline
  • School program must have ability to establish program agreement with KYC
  • Must have computer and keyboarding skills sufficient to communicate with teams, write and complete progress notes and assessments, and navigate electronic health record systems.
  • Schedule will vary depending on program needs and interns’ schedules, with two days being prime time (evenings and/or evening and a Saturday)
  • Must intern a minimum of 20 hours per week, however, some school programs might have a higher requirement
  • All programs require in-person hours, with some programs having hybrid/remote options if appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with team members to assure clients timely access to services
  • Meet agency quality and compliance standards by accurately completing clinical documentation and service reporting in a timely manner.
  • Meet or exceed service productivity target.
  • Implement evidenced based practices to ensure use of effective treatment that best address client needs
  • Participation in staff training and development seminars
  • Working cooperatively with other Center teams and programs to maintain smooth continuity of care when cases are shared across teams
  • Learn and utilize a variety of outside resources as needed to provide comprehensive services to clients
  • Participate in development of learning agreement, actively participate in activities to meet learning agreement and school requirements, and weekly individual supervision with direct supervisor
  • Participate in weekly group supervision with intern cohort
