Developmental and Behavioral Health Services at Children’s Mercy cares for children and teens who need extra support with developmental, psychiatric, or psychological concerns. We understand that a child’s mental, emotional, and behavioral health is an integral part of their well-being. Each patient is paired with a personalized care team of developmental pediatricians, psychologist, and/or psychiatrist to provide medical evaluation and specialty care for children with developmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. Managing medication and other treatments for symptoms such as impulsivity, inattention, anxiety and agitation and mental health conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, Tourette’s and eating disorders. The Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator is responsible for organizing and coordinating all aspects of the intake of new patients seeking care in Developmental and Behavioral Health clinical programs. The individual will complete an intake interview with patients and a make a determination about the most appropriate type of appointment, and/or provide information about alternate resources at Children's Mercy (CM) or in the community. This individual identifies members at-risk and addresses barriers to accessing behavioral health care. This individual works closely with clinical and support staff to ensure a smooth and timely process of information gathering, decision-making, and scheduling of new patients.
