Behavioral Health Direct Care Technician
About The Position
Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time Direct Care Technician to join their team at the Adolescent Residential Home in Aberdeen, NC. The mission of ESPH is rooted in empowering individuals and strengthening communities, focusing on making a real difference in the lives of teens living with mental health challenges and substance use disorders. The role involves providing and maintaining a therapeutic and safe group environment, attending to the welfare and basic needs of clients, and offering informal counseling using behavioral techniques, reality therapy, supportive encouragement, and socialization skills. The technician will also facilitate and participate in group activities, accompany clients to NA/AA meetings and community outings, provide transportation, and assist in life-skills development to promote recovery.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Maintain valid state appropriate driver’s license and auto insurance for personal and agency vehicles utilized for work
- Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of relevant experience in substance disorders or working with youth preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide and maintain a therapeutic and safe group environment
- Attend to the welfare and basic needs of clients
- Provide informal counseling that involve behavioral techniques, reality therapy, supportive encouragement and socialization skills for the clients
- Facilitate and participate in group activities
- Accompany clients to NA/AA meetings and community outings
