About The Position

As a Behavioral Health Crisis PARS Clinician with Portsmouth Regional Hospital, you will be responsible for all aspects of both telephone and face-to-face crisis intervention and psychiatric triage. This includes conducting psychiatric assessments, developing treatment plans in consultation with on-call psychiatrists, and assisting with grief consultations. You will work closely with various departments to coordinate the assessment and admission process for patients in need of behavioral health services.

Requirements

• Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required.
• 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Develop a positive engagement with the caller/patient to facilitate an accurate interview.
• Schedule patients for evaluations using program-appropriate flow sheets.
• Triage phone calls with concise and complete assessments and appropriate follow-up.
• Complete assessments in a well-written format and in a timely manner.
• Perform and document mental status exams.
• Provide information to patients and families regarding specific treatment programs.
• Perform functions of an Involuntary Emergency Admission as needed.
• Consult with a psychiatrist after assessments.
• Coordinate transfer of patients from other facilities for admission to the Behavioral Health Unit.
• Respond to Code Grays as necessary.
• Maintain accurate count of available beds and coordinate waiting lists if necessary.
