About The Position

The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) at Spira Care is responsible for integrating behavioral health services into primary care, collaborating with medical providers to address the physical and behavioral healthcare needs of patients. The BHC employs a team-based approach to treat a wide range of health concerns, promoting overall health, quality of life, and patient self-management. This role involves delivering brief, evidence-based interventions and working closely with the medical team to develop treatment plans and coordinate care.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, family and marriage therapy, or professional counseling.
• Licensure including LSCSW/LCSW, LCMFT (KS)/LMFT (MO), or LCPC(KS)/LPC(MO) in both Kansas and Missouri.
• 5 years of experience as a Behavioral Health Consultant or independently licensed clinician in direct clinical settings.
• General knowledge of common conditions treated in primary care.
• Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EMR systems.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Familiarity with AthenaNet (Electronic Medical Records System)
• Experience in the PCBH Model.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral health care in collaboration with medical providers.
• Deliver brief, evidence-based interventions to manage emotional, psychosocial, and physical health concerns.
• Assist in identifying at-risk patients and preventing relapse in recurring conditions.
• Promote the BHC role and its services to medical patients.
• Work with the medical team to develop common treatment plans and coordinate care.
• Educate patients about their diagnoses to help them adjust to their health behaviors and social environment.
• Respond to crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.
• Participate in provider team meetings and relevant trainings.
• Maintain documentation standards per organizational policies and procedures.
