About The Position

The Behavioral Health Clinician II at Graf Rheenerhaanjii provides essential mental health and substance abuse services to diverse populations, including youth, adults, and families. This role involves delivering individual, family, and group therapy, conducting comprehensive assessments, and developing culturally sensitive treatment plans. The clinician will also engage in crisis intervention, outreach, and collaboration with various agencies to ensure quality care and compliance with regulatory standards. The position emphasizes the importance of compassion, respect, and effective communication in service delivery.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited university in Psychology, Counseling, Child Guidance, Community Mental Health, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nursing, or Social Work with an active license.
  • Current Alaska Clinical Licensure in designated field.
  • Certification or ability to be certified within one year of hire as a Chemical Dependency Counselor II or Master Addictions Counselor.
  • Two years of supervised clinical work experience for Master's level Behavioral Health or two years of post-graduate clinical experience for PhD or PsyD level.
  • Two years of substance abuse work experience and familiarity with the dynamics of substance abuse and addiction.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience working in Rural Alaska villages preferred.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Family Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
  • Must pass background check pursuant to the State of Alaska background check and Federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

  • Cross-cultural treatment skills and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and traditions preferred.
  • Familiarity with the culture and needs of individuals of Alaska Native descent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Individual, Family, and Group therapy for children, adolescents, and adults with Mental Health, Substance Abuse or Co-Occurring Mental Health and Substance Abuse issues.
  • Provide Comprehensive Mental Health and Substance Abuse Assessments using DSM 5 and ASAM Criteria.
  • Develop a treatment plan with special consideration to cross-cultural and dual diagnosis concerns.
  • Provide Prevention and Education services on topics regarding Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Wellness.
  • Provide and receive appropriate referrals to and from other agencies and resources.
  • Provide culturally appropriate modes of service as appropriate.
  • Complete administrative and clinical documentation in a timely manner to maintain program compliance.
  • Provide ongoing outreach services to communities served.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and coordinate with on-call staff for emergencies, consults, outreach and follow-up.
  • Provide consultation to clinical staff, medical professionals, schools, universities, probation and court system as necessary.
  • Participate in routine outcome monitoring and engage in regular clinical supervision.
  • Attend required training and meetings; work toward becoming a Qualified Addictions Professional.
