About The Position

The Behavioral Health Clinician I position provides professional counseling and treatment services for adults, children, and youth exhibiting a wide variety of mental health, drug abuse, and/or alcohol-related disorders in various settings including clinics, homes, fields, or institutions. The role may require working night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Responsibilities include providing individual and group interventions, screening participants for program eligibility, conducting needs assessments, preparing written materials, collecting data to measure program impact, and providing field-based services. Clinicians are expected to follow ethical guidelines and may participate in research projects or crisis intervention evaluations.

Requirements

  • Valid Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) number issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Understanding and applying Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Understanding and applying evidence-based practices in a behavioral health setting.
  • Experience working with participants in crisis and those with mental illness.
  • Proficiency with EHR, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish or Vietnamese.
  • Experience in providing prevention and early intervention behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Care and collaboration with health care partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both individual and group interventions, such as psycho-educational groups, parent training, brief individual counseling, brief group counseling, case management, referral and linkage to community services.
  • Screen participants for program eligibility and conduct both individual and family needs assessments.
  • Prepare written materials and present information professionally.
  • Collect demographic and outcomes data to measure program impact.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of programs.
  • Provide field-based services to engage participants in treatment.
  • Follow ethical and practice guidelines as outlined by the Board of Behavioral Science.
  • May participate in research projects or perform crisis intervention evaluations.
