The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for a case load of individuals who are engaged in a Substance Use Treatment Program. The Substance Abuse Counselor will be the primary coordinator of clinical services for their caseload and will also fulfill necessary data-gathering and other written requirements for the program. The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for the psychological and psychosocial assessments of mental health patients throughout the organization. He/she is responsible for patient placements, referrals, interventions, and planning patient care. The Behavioral Health Clinician works in cooperation with the treatment team. He/she provides services for patients ranging in age from childhood through late adulthood in assigned treatment area. Job Description The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing psychotherapy services to assigned clients. This includes weekly individual and group counseling appointments. The Substance Abuse Counselor will also have input into the program planning and development to insure that the psychosocial, educational, and vocational needs of the clients are being addressed programmatically. The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for completing all chart work and other required written work in a timely fashion. This includes biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, clinical progress notes, and all other clinical documentation required by the opioid treatment program. All clinical documentation must be done in accordance with program regulations and regulatory agency requirements.
