MaineHealth Behavioral Health provides assertive community treatment (ACT) services for people with significant behavioral health needs. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatric providers, registered nurses, case managers, therapists and an employment specialist. The ACT program is based on national standards and is intended to prevent psychiatric hospitalization and criminal justice involvement. The goal is to improve patient functioning in the least restrictive setting, while strengthening family, work, school and community ties. Level I: The role of Behavioral Health Clinician I, working under a conditional license, involves providing comprehensive care and support to clients with behavioral health needs. The key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing direct care through individual, group, and family therapy sessions. The counselor is also responsible for maintaining clinical records, collaborating with community providers, and participating in team meetings to ensure effective treatment and discharge planning. The Behavioral Health Clinician I will be under direct clinical supervision to work towards independent licensure. Level II: The role of Behavioral Health Clinician II, working under an independent license, involves providing comprehensive care and support to clients with behavioral health needs. The key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing direct care through individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
