About The Position

The City and County of San Francisco continuously accepts applications for all permanent Behavioral Health Clinician 2930 positions. Under general supervision, the 2930 Behavioral Health Clinician performs essential duties that include, but are not limited to the following: assessing prospective clients and their significant others/families for psychiatric services, analyzing data, compiling and maintaining client records, establishing and maintaining professional relationships, developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans, providing psychotherapy and crisis intervention, referring clients to appropriate community resources, advocating for accessibility and improved services, participating in Quality Improvement activities, and may supervise support staff.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for either: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC).

Responsibilities

  • Assesses prospective clients and their significant others/families for psychiatric services by interviewing clients and reviewing pertinent factors.
  • Analyzes data by obtaining information through interviews, psychological/medical reports and previous psychiatric history.
  • Compiles and maintains client records by preparing written/electronic documentation, charts, statistical data, and reports.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships by collaborating with other service providers.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans aimed at wellness and recovery.
  • Provides individual, group family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, outreach services, and case management.
  • Refers clients to appropriate community resources and actively manages caseload.
  • Advocates for accessibility and improved services for individual clients/groups.
  • Participates and contributes to Quality Improvement activities at local sites and system levels.
  • May supervise support staff such as Health Workers.
