About The Position

This is highly responsible professional and administrative work serving as the Clinical Supervisor for the Behavioral Health program. Work involves responsibility for planning and directing the clinical programs pursuant to the policy and direction of the Behavioral Health Program. This position will oversee the clinical aspects of the behavioral health program which includes the supervision of the mental health therapists. Work is performed under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director and requires the application of professional judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university supplemented by a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related human services field; considerable experience counseling or human services field involving supervision; or any combination of human service experience and training which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.
  • Knowledge of the principals and practices of human services management.
  • Knowledge of the overall methods and operations of a variety of human services programs related to the public sector.
  • Knowledge of current developments, literature, and sources of information related to human services management.
  • Knowledge of basic budgeting techniques applied to the public sector.
  • Ability to organize, directs, and coordinates the operations of behavioral clinical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and to develop solutions to problems with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and the general public.
  • Must have demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Must be licensed as a mental health practitioner in the state of Nebraska at the time of interview.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mental health therapy in an outpatient therapy situation including individual and family therapy, intake interviews, assessments, construction of case histories and treatment plans.
  • Responds to referrals/calls from Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, schools and law enforcement agencies or through self-referrals.
  • Supervises the clinical behavioral health staff through hiring, appraisals, and placements; conducts staff meetings and exit interviews; conducts diagnostic staff meeting and disposition of client meetings.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of client files as documented in the individual client records, ensuring the compliance of both State and Federal Regulations.
  • Implement those that report to this individual with their staff development plans for maximizing staff performance. This includes providing or coordinating training for staff, recommending specific training events and providing individual instruction on how to improve performance.
