About The Position

The position is responsible for providing mental health services to patients presenting in the Emergency Department. This includes conducting crisis and intake assessments, making appropriate referrals based on acuity, providing education to patients and their families, and assisting with discharge planning. The role also involves acting as a community liaison and offering support to family members of patients.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience working in a psychiatric setting, human service field, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluations, assessments, crisis intervention and referral for all populations served by the department in the emergency room.
  • Documents understandable, comprehensible psychiatric evaluations and progress notes.
  • Responsible for discharge planning and arranging follow-up care and referrals.
  • Functions as a liaison between Behavioral Health services and community agencies, maintaining knowledge of community resources for treatment planning.
  • Recognizes and identifies actual or potential situations that may place the organization at risk for corporate compliance violations and communicates these issues with the department manager.
