The Behavioral Health Aide at SEARHC has distinct responsibilities depending on whether they are working inside or outside the residence. Inside the residence, the aide provides oversight of residents during their assigned shift, ensuring the safety and security of the building and residents. This includes being trained and certified in crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment, and responding to police presence. The aide is responsible for initially assessing behavioral problems in residents, documenting significant issues, maintaining confidentiality, and facilitating daily residential program components. This includes supervising daily living tasks, assisting with treatment objectives, and participating in recreational events. Minor housekeeping duties are also part of the role, such as transporting linen to the hospital laundry using a SEARHC vehicle. Outside the residence, the aide is responsible for completing medication counts for all prescription medications for clients, assisting with treatment objectives, leading various treatment activities, and participating in classroom sessions related to chemical dependency. The aide is a member of the treatment team, attending meetings and participating in career development activities, including formal and informal training on substance abuse and addiction. Individual counseling in the area of chemical dependency is also a key responsibility, along with attending SEARHC Quality Management trainings and incorporating learned concepts into client services.
