About The Position

The Behavioral Health Advisor provides direct patient care to hospitalized psychiatric and chemically dependent patients. This position strives to maintain a stable therapeutic environment, monitors patients' moods and behaviors, and ensures an adherence to program structure to assure the safety and well-being of the hospitalized patients. The Behavioral Health Advisor works closely under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure patient safety and progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Psychology , Social Work or related field
  • 1 year Social Services

  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and assess changes in the tone and quality of the therapeutic milieu and addresses potential concerns that threaten patients' optimal safety, healing, and supportive environment.
  • Observes, records, and monitors behaviors related to risk of patient suicide.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information, condition changes, and incidents to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Documents patient care information and ensures timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Closely monitors and adheres to patient treatment plans in the delivery of care.
  • De-escalates situations involving agitated or aggressive patients to prevent behavioral-based safety hazards using established principles in de-escalation, including potential application of physical restraints.
  • Successfully passes Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
