Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Counseling
  • Has obtained School Counselor License - issued by the Michigan Department of Education for working in K-12 settings with academic/social-emotional focus.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
  • Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Individual or group counseling
  • Behavior intervention and skill-building
  • Crisis intervention and emotional regulation
  • Support students with anxiety, trauma, behavior challenges
  • Collaborate with school staff and families
  • Adhere to federal/state/local procedures for record keeping, eligibility documentation, timelines and procedural safeguards.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule to ensure compliance with all required meetings and services.
