About The Position

Children's Outpatient Services provides treatment for children and adolescents and their families and is intended to improve and maintain a child’s or an adolescent’s stability in the community. Treatment focuses on problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization and/or prevention of movement to a higher level of care. Services include individual, family and group therapy, medication evaluation and management, case management, in home intervention, case consultation and summer day treatment services. The type of treatment is highly variable and depends upon the individual’s existing symptoms and developmental level.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be at least age 23, maintain a valid Alabama driver license, and have a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers
  • Assists consumers with personal care, play, social interactions, outings, and safety issues
  • Provides training on basic living skills according to the consumer’s target goals, as identified by treatment plan
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation
  • Applies Mindset and restraint interventions per AltaPointe Policy and Procedures
  • Effectively collaborates with staff members
  • Provides support and education for family members of consumers
  • Models appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
  • Meets AltaPointe productivity standards, if applicable
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent and specific competencies
  • Basic general knowledge in child/adolescent specialties, outlined below, to be attained within (2) two weeks of employment: Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in child/adolescent populations Basic knowledge of growth and development of child/adolescent consumers as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects consumer development Basic knowledge of behavior management and parenting issues Knowledge of cultural diversity Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practices. Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to child/adolescent psychiatric disorders Knowledge of DMH and Medicaid Standards
