About The Position

The Behavioral Aide position is a part-time role located in Montebello, CA, specifically within the Montebello Unified School District. Requirements

• Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of children.

• Competence in assisting with academic skills, e.g., reading and math.
• Effective oral communication skills with correct language usage.

• Recent experience working with youth groups, child centers, or playgrounds.
• Experience requiring organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with special needs.
• Participate in activities planned by the school district staff.
• Assist in the preparation and development of instructional training activities and materials.
• Assist school district staff with in-class activities based on specific instructions.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment by keeping materials and equipment organized.
• Use effective teaching and behavior management techniques to maintain a good learning atmosphere.
• Assist with assessing student needs under direct supervision.
• Provide general impressions and observations of students to school district staff.
• Work with students individually, in small groups, whole groups, or learning centers.
• Assist with classroom technology, adaptive devices, and equipment.
• Support students with social skills.
• Assist with toileting, diapering, dressing, and hygiene.
• Keep an organized and clutter-free restroom and/or changing area.
• Administer emergency treatment when necessary.
• Take children into the community as needed.
• Assist children in feeding themselves.
• Supervise playground activities.
• Work cooperatively with students, school district staff, and administration.
• Reinforce lessons/activities with small groups of learners.
• Assist school staff in crisis intervention and discipline.
• Participate in program planning meetings at the request of school staff.
• Perform other job-related work as required.
