Job Summary Behavior Therapists provide behavior analytic services to small caseloads of clients who exhibit challenging behaviors in residential, school, and community settings.

Requirements

  • The ability to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related human services field with ABA experience; BCBA eligible or BCBA preferred.
  • Background in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions in accordance with highest standards of practice.
  • Expertise/training in conducting functional behavior assessments.
  • Knowledge of normal human development and experience providing treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or co-morbid mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Develops goals and objectives with the child and family that meet their individualized needs by reviewing and completing evaluations, working with the family regarding treatment goals, and identifying presenting skills deficits or behaviors to identify what additional treatments may be needed.
  • Develops behavior plans/treatment plans for all clients with a focus on teaching antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s) and increasing skills and replacement behaviors.
  • Integrates each client's goals and objectives, as stated in their ISP, into residential/classroom routines and activities.
  • Maintains and evaluates client’s progress through progress monitoring including, but not limited to, residential/classroom observations, data collection, and ongoing assessments.
  • Consults and collaborates with parents, team members, school faculty, and other school/funding agencies regarding goal-related actions to support the child
  • Maintains rapport and communication with parents on a regular basis through parent training and progress reports
  • Works collaboratively with related service providers including, but not limited to, speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and special instructors to implement the required instructional strategies necessary to support each child's individual participation in residential/classroom activities
  • Prepares and provides individualized materials including, but not limited to, visual schedules, communication aids, and individualized reinforcement protocols as required by individual ISP
  • Supports children with daily living skills including, but not limited to, toileting, support during classroom mealtimes, hygiene activities, and classroom dressing activities
  • Completes all documentation including but not limited to: Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) including the collection and interpretation of data ISP - development and updating the treatment plan as progress is made Monthly Summary-Monthly Data collection Required outcome tools, e.g. Verbal Behavioral Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), Abberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC), Essentials for daily living Preference assessments Fidelity checks Graphing
  • Competes weekly paperwork which includes but is not limited to progress notes and encounter form in compliance with funding agencies and licensing requirements.
  • Provides clinical coaching and mentoring to paraprofessionals to include training on behavior plans, and behavioral interventions by making sure they are following the plans and intervention to track progress on treatment goals.
  • Provides supervision of clients data sheets, program development, and complete fidelity checks on program implications
  • Conducts Parent Training for specific treatment goals that are meaningful to our client’s family.
  • Creates ongoing data collection systems to establish baseline data and programmatic efficacy for all consumers, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
  • Meets as needed with supervised staff to discuss ongoing consumer issues and to provide support when necessary.
  • Oversees development of individualized plans in the milieu; incorporate therapeutic activities in the schedule.
  • Provides input for Biopsychosocial or Psychiatric evaluations as needed;
  • Conducts weekly/ bi-weekly parent training/family therapy sessions and document sessions;
  • Participates in inter-disciplinary team meetings monthly, with the program’s psychiatric provider and other team members, providing objective data/behavioral graphs to assist in medication management and therapeutic program planning;
  • Participates in all treatment team meetings and presents progress, barriers, goals, and interventions to the team members;
  • Performs other duties relevant to program operations as defined by the Clinical Director.
