The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is currently hiring for Temporary, Hourly , Part-Time Behavior Technicians . Our Behavior Technicians are key members of the Autism Center and will provide direct intervention to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their homes as well as in clinic. Afternoon and evening availability (between 2 and 7PM) required along with reliable transportation. The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is a nonprofit organization within the Institute on Human Development and Disability in UW Pediatrics and is devoted to supporting families affected by autism spectrum disorders through exceptional clinical services, innovative scientific research and high-quality training. Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

Requirements

  • Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (psychology, education, human/child development).
  • Training and experience in early intensive behavioral intervention for children with autism, early intervention for toddlers, developmental psychology, behavior analysis, special education, or related fields and experience working directly with children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Ability and willingness to interact with children in a spontaneous and creative way.
  • This position involves physical care which may require moving children between the ages of 12-48 months.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct 1:1 intervention to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their homes as well as in clinic.
  • Implement intervention protocols developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) to increase skills/reduce problem behaviors and using principles of applied behavior analysis. Tailor procedures to fit individual interests/needs.
  • Provide responsible, positive, sensitive intervention and care during therapy and will work under close supervision of masters level clinical staff.
  • Create picture cards, books, etc. as needed for the therapy program.
  • Produce motivation charts, token boards, visual schedules, play materials, etc.
  • Organize and maintain computer and paper records of therapy including collecting and accurately recording data in each therapy session, graphing data and completing treatment notes.
  • Maintain home and clinic therapy spaces in an organized, clean, and child-proof manner.
