About The Position

The Behavior Technician position at Jaworek Elementary School for the 2025-2026 work year (214 days, including a Summer Program) involves providing highly structured behavioral support to students. Key responsibilities include running programs for skill acquisition across academic, communication, motor, social, and adaptive daily living skills (including toileting, grooming, dressing, and eating) using systematic prompting. The role requires collecting and graphing data to track student progress, assisting students in generalizing learned skills within general education settings, and implementing play plans to facilitate social interactions during unstructured times. The Behavior Technician will also collect student work, gather and organize educational materials, and work with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors such as aggression, property destruction, self-injury, non-compliance, disruption, inattention, social deficits, and safety concerns. Implementing specific behavior protocols, maintaining crisis prevention certification (e.g., Safety-Care), and performing physical restraints and escorts as needed are also part of the role. The technician will consult with special educators, general educators, and behavior specialists, complete daily home communication logs, and attend required meetings and trainings after school. Other general duties may be assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or Marlborough School Committee.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of ABA experience in a public school or private special education school or clinical environment
  • RBT Certification (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
  • Associate’s Degree or 48 credits at the bachelor level in education or a related field
  • Maintain current crisis prevention certification (e.g.,Safety-Care)

Responsibilities

  • Provide a highly structured approach that relies on behavioral principles
  • Run programs that specify pre-determined skills including: academic, communication, motor, social, adaptive daily living skills (including: toileting (may require lifting), grooming, dressing and eating using a systematic prompting sequence
  • Collect data and record progress of skill acquisition
  • Graph all programs daily to track progress
  • Assist students in generalizing learned skills within the general education settings
  • Implement play plans and facilitate social interactions at unstructured times (recess, lunch, specials, etc.)
  • Collect student work as directed by special education teacher
  • Gather/create/organize materials for educational programs, behavior charts, reinforcement systems, etc. as requested by special educator
  • Work with students who may exhibit behaviors such as: aggression, property destruction, self-injury, non-compliance, disruption, inattention to task, social deficits, non-verbal communication skills and safety concerns
  • Implement specific behavior protocol (including data collection and graphing as needed)
  • Maintain current crisis prevention certification (e.g.,Safety-Care) and implement physical restraints and escorts as needed
  • Consult with special educator, general educator and behavior specialist
  • Complete daily home communication log
  • Attend required meetings and trainings after school
  • Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Principal, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee
