The Behavior Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing one-on-one support and intervention for students facing emotional and behavioral challenges within the Boise School District. This position involves working closely with students who have varying needs, including severe behavioral issues and developmental challenges, under the guidance of supervising teachers and school psychologists. The specialist will also assist in academic support and data collection regarding student performance.

  • Provide one-to-one support and intervention for students with emotional and/or behavioral problems.
  • Collect and maintain data on student performance and behavior for supervising teachers.
  • Assist teachers and students academically by attending classes, taking notes, and helping with assignments and tests.
  • Serve as a rover between schools or be assigned to a specific building as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors in a classroom setting preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Idaho driver's license or ability to travel as required.
  • Completion of the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis Exam may be required.
  • Continued education in child development or social services field preferred.
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining required reports and documentation.
