About The Position

Position: Behavior Specialist Technician _ Chenango County Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, must be flexible with scheduled hours Location: Chenango County Starting Base Pay: $20.94/per hour DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for performing various tasks related to behavior support, including implementation, tracking, and training. This position’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the subsequent items, and are characterized in the following standards of performance, defined as below: I. JOB KNOWLEDGE · Collect and record data based on Behavior Support Plans and/or Monitoring Plans · Carry out Clinical assessments and other administrative duties · Provide Crisis Intervention as needed · Provide direct support modeling strategies used in Behavior Support Plans · Maintain tracking for caseload as assigned · Attend Life Plan Meetings/PPT Meetings/Psych appointments to resent information related to behavior/symptom tracking · Assist in developing/running groups · Consult with appropriate behavior specialist regarding individuals on selected caseloads · Any additional duties as assigned II. TEAMWORK • Encourage and maintain a positive working relationship with all departments in the company. • Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Puts success of team above own interest. • Act as a role model to individuals and staff. • Communicates with supervisor to ensure all important information is known to supervisor to Ensure all agency policies and procedures are followed at all times. • Attend and participate in all required and/or requested departmental or agency meetings • Report any concerns to Supervisor immediately. • Performs duties in a safe and productive manner. III. DOCUMENTATION • Ensures all forms are completed and signed as instructed. • Completes and/or approves required documentation in compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures. • Maintains proper files of all required documents. IV. COMPLIANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information deemed confidential by agency. • Identify and report any untoward incidents • Identify, report and/or correct all safety hazards including physical plant problems and/or problem work practices and assist with investigating all work-related accidents as requested • Participate in any investigations as required • Comply with all State and Federal regulations along with agency policies and practices V. TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT • Attend all required training, staff development programs and staff meetings as required by the agency and/or State and Federal regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and at least one year of experience working with OPWDD services.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to employees, prospective employees and outside contacts both in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide numbers accurately.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to type and record data accurately
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain files of same, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, cooperative work environment and demeanor with all employees, management personnel and individuals you come in contact with (both internal and external). Ensuring that all employees have a positive, productive work environment in which to work.
  • Dependability, Attendance & Work Ethics – Works with integrity and ethically, upholding agency values, ensuring agency policies and procedures are followed. Reports any concerns to supervisor immediately. Maintains good attendance to ensure demands of department are met.
  • Be computer literate with knowledge in agency operating systems and applicable software required for department needs.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in normal work and emergency situations
  • Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift 50 pounds
  • Possess a valid driver’s license acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier
