About The Position

The Behavior Specialist will (a) lead the effort to build and maintain a strong, positive achievement-oriented school culture that nurtures, inspires, and empowers students to become successful adults with 21st century skills; (b) work closely with teachers, students, and parents to provide positive behavior supports and interventions; and (c) develop, enhance, and provide technical support for the implementation of a schoolwide PBIS framework. This position requires strong relationship- and team-building skills, ability to communicate clearly, strong organizational skills, ability to be flexible and meet deadlines, multi-tasking capability, and detail-oriented.

Requirements

  • Missouri certification
  • Elementary teaching experience
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills including human relations and communication skills
  • Experience planning and conducting professional development / training
  • Demonstrates leadership and project organizational skills (planning, implementing, evaluation)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various groups and gain consensus related to project implementation and other problem solving
  • Experience in data-based decision making
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups (teachers, parents, administrators and support staff)

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) framework
  • Work closely with principal, PBIS team, and staff to ensure consistent schoolwide implementation
  • Oversee implementation and provide professional development for evidence-based practices to improve school climate, Check In Check Out (CICO), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative justice, and/or trauma-informed interventions
  • Track, review, and analyze student behavioral data including discipline referrals and suspensions to identify interventions for at-risk students
  • Implement school climate surveys (Panorama), PBS fidelity checks (EBS), and problem-solving checklists
  • Work closely with appointed school personnel on program evaluation activities
  • Provide direct coaching and counseling services to Tier II and Tier III students
  • Attend PBIS Team meetings and Building Leadership Team meetings
  • Participate in PBIS conferences and meetings
  • Train and provide ongoing technical and data analysis support to staff who use school-wide data collection systems (EduClimber).
  • Other duties as assigned
