About The Position

The Behavior Modification Room Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of behavior programs within an elementary school setting. This position focuses on maintaining a positive and orderly environment conducive to learning, supervising students in In-School Suspension, and collaborating with school staff to address behavioral needs effectively. The aide is responsible for fostering student responsibility and providing support for instructional assignments while adhering to established guidelines and policies.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree preferred, or High School diploma with 60 hours college credit, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to read and write at least at the high school level.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively before groups.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavior modification programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Establish high standards and expectations for student behavior.
  • Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension and maintain order.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive classroom climate that encourages responsibility.
  • Collaborate with administration to ensure effective behavior modification settings.
  • Assist students with instructional assignments as needed.
  • Maintain and submit appropriate records in a timely manner.
  • Engage learners in differentiated learning experiences based on their needs.
  • Implement curriculum for intervention effectively.
  • Supervise students during behavior modification times and transitions to general education classrooms.
  • Utilize excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Seek assistance from administration when necessary.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and other personnel as needed.
  • Follow student accommodations as indicated in IEPs, 504s, and BIPs.
  • Maintain positive relationships with administration, staff, students, and parents.
  • Utilize reports and data to improve student behavior.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information.
