About The Position

To assist the Vice Principal in providing a safe environment so that all students may reap the greatest benefit from the school's educational opportunities. OUR STUDENTS: Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school that serves over 1,600 students from the City of Brockton and eight surrounding towns. Our students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Upon graduation, our students are well-prepared for college, a career, or further technical training. COMPENSATION: This position is school-year employee is paid in 21 equal installments from September - June, or from the initial start date to the end date.

Requirements

  • Experience dealing with students in a high school setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of discipline procedures including laws pertaining to school discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an educator, counselor, or administrator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works diligently to promote a safe and welcoming school environment by immediately addressing minor behavior infractions and continually setting reminders of behavioral expectations.
  • Assists the administrative staff with enforcement of behavior management policies and expectations.
  • Follows through on all "Behavioral Reports" submitted by faculty or staff.
  • Identifies groups of at-risk students and meets with them regularly to track their progress.
  • Performs all investigations relevant to behavior reports and/or as assigned by the Vice Principal.
  • Conducts "Due Process" hearings with students regarding their behavioral reports.
  • Assigns consequences for behavior infractions, consistent with the Student Handbook.
  • Schedules and attends meetings with parents regarding behavior consequences that do not exceed three days of suspension.
  • Monitors corridors, lavatory facilities, and school grounds.
  • Conducts regular meetings with student groups.
  • Communicates regularly with parents, guidance, administrators, teachers, and colleagues regarding student issues.
  • Identifies building-wide behavior trends and makes appropriate recommendations for remediation.
  • Organizes and maintains records for In-School Suspensions.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
