About The Position

The Behavior Itinerant Teacher is responsible for coordinating and providing direct instructional programs for special education students, focusing on their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves monitoring and evaluating educational programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining a conducive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Hold or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina.
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional practices related to specially designed instruction.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal policies regarding services for students with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.

Responsibilities

  • Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and implements them.
  • Uses diagnostic information to update IEPs as needed.
  • Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
  • Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and IEP goals.
  • Employs various teaching methods and adapts materials to meet student needs.
  • Monitors student behavior and maintains discipline in the classroom.
  • Evaluates student work and adjusts instruction based on progress.
  • Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with team members.
  • Stays updated on trends and best practices in education.
