About The Position

The Behavior Interventionist, under the direction of the site principal, assists teachers in providing support and resources to academically and behaviorally challenged individuals or small groups of students; monitors, redirects and modifies student progress regarding inappropriate behaviors and performance; while providing interventions in reading and math so as to improve student achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree required, Master Degree preferred.
  • Three years teaching experience preferred.
  • Must have valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate required for appropriate level being taught Elem. Ed.-1501 or 1600.
  • Additional Counselor-0524 or Psychologist-0517 or Psychometrist-0519, Special Education certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers one-on-one interventions to students in a school setting; participates in intervention meetings through Professional Learning Communities.
  • Facilitates alternative school placements as needed.
  • Collects data and records anecdotal student progress notes; maintains academic and behavioral charting data.
  • Monitors and assists students in prescribed (reading and math) learning activities.
  • Monitors, observes and reports academic and behavior of students according to approved procedures; reports progress regarding student performance and behavior.
  • Serves as the liaison between the school and home as well as provide resources and community wrap around services.
  • Conducts parent training nights.
  • Assists students and parents with academic (reading and math) and emotional supports and community resources.
  • Communicates with teachers regarding individual needs of students; provides input regarding student progress.
  • Provides student's teacher with weekly updates on group and individual intervention. Confers with teacher, as needed, concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
  • Utilizes district resources to construct grade level appropriate academic and behavior interventions.
  • Conducts classroom observations focused on student classroom academics and behaviors.
  • Directs group activities of students as assigned.
  • Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Performs related tasks as required.
