About The Position

The Behavior Intervention Specialist/Coach position for the 2025-2026 school year involves providing assistance and ongoing training to staff in the design and implementation of personalized student behavioral intervention plans. The role focuses on promoting a healthy classroom environment and effective planning, organization, and implementation of strategies for optimum behavior outcomes. The specialist will work closely with students, parents, and staff to develop behavior plans based on collected data, helping students take responsibility for their self-regulation and behavior. The position also requires collaboration with parents, school and district administration, and community professionals to ensure students receive the necessary supports for success. The specialist will design and implement a fair referral process, maintain data pertinent to the job, and may serve as a teacher in transitional classroom settings. Attendance at professional development opportunities and adherence to BPS policies and procedures are also required.

Requirements

  • Montana Educators License endorsed in Elementary K-8, School Counseling, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of work-related experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience in essential functions of the position.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to personal transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and ongoing training to staff in designing and implementing personalized student behavioral intervention plans.
  • Work with students, parents, and staff to develop behavior plans based on collected data.
  • Help students assume responsibility for their own self-regulation and behavior.
  • Establish communication lines between home and school, emphasizing the importance of daily school attendance.
  • Collaborate with parents, school and district administration, and community professionals to ensure students receive necessary supports.
  • Design and implement a fair and equitable referral process applied consistently across schools.
  • Collect and maintain data relevant to the job, including an annual report documenting program services and results.
  • If serving as a teacher, work with community professionals and administrators to design effective transitional learning environments.
  • Follow BPS policies and procedures, including disciplinary policies, and exercise fiscal responsibility.
  • Attend relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Identify personal growth needs and set goals for development.
