Position Description: The Behavioral Health Technician or Behavioral Health Technician-Applied Behavior Analysis (BHT / BHT-ABA) assists the treatment team in implementing the Individual Treatment Plan for an identified child and/or adolescent. The BHT /BHT-ABA is responsible for providing one-on-one implementation of established treatment plans working directly with children and adolescents facing behavioral and emotional challenges. The primary goal is to improve independent age-appropriate functioning levels and to transfer skills to the child, parents/legal guardians, and caregivers. BHT/BHT-ABA must have flexibility to schedule services provided in the home, school and community settings as needed.

Requirements

  • Must meet the criteria for an IBHS program to include ONE of the following:
  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and be willing to complete a 40-hour training in the content area of Applied Behavior Analysis OR
  • Have a certification as a BCaBA OR
  • Have a certification as an RBT OR
  • Have a certification as a BCAT OR
  • Have a behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute OR
  • Have an employment history demonstrating a minimum of 2 years of past BHT experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance coverage and consistent access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Provide clearances with a clean record, free from allegations or findings related to abuse, neglect, exploitation or other criminal acts against children, i.e. Act 33, Act 34 or FBI Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/interest working with individuals with mental health disorders.
  • First aid and CPR-certification or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to perform duties of the role in an unpredictable environment without physical limitations.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion handling confidential information.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience.
  • The BHT position can also lead to collecting supervised hours needed for PA Behavior Specialist licensure or field experience for BACB requirements.
  • Experience as a caretaker with children and/or adult
  • Bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the treatment team in implementing the Individual Treatment Plan for the child or adolescent.
  • Provide one-on-one implementation of established treatment plans working directly with children and adolescents facing behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Improve independent age-appropriate functioning levels and transfer of skills to the child, parents/legal guardians, and caregivers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to schedule services provided in the home, school and community settings as needed.
  • Assist with the intake process for new clients entering the program
  • Review instructions and supervisor updates for each client’s program, interpreting previous data, collecting narrative data, and responding to correspondence

  • Compensation: High School diploma-$15/hour. Associate’s degree or equivalent-$16.25/hour. Bachelor’s degree-$17.25/hour. Bachelor and RBT certification-$17.75/hour. Also included is mileage reimbursement and an employee referral bonus opportunity.
