About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavioral and instructional methodologies to address student IEP goals at the Anova Center for Education (ACE) School.

Requirements

The candidate Classroom Assistant is required to have least two years of experience working with developmentally disabled and / or emotionally disturbed students in an environment utilizing an Applied Behavior Analysis approach.
Must have computer access with internet capabilities.

Responsibilities

Comply with all State and Federal Laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public School.
Provide constant and effective supervision and direct training of assigned student(s) under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
Ensure a positive and reinforcing academic experience and compliance with Anova policies and procedures and other appropriate regulations and standards.
Implement directions from Classroom Teacher, Classroom Coordinator or Senior Assistant.
Implement all assigned behavioral intervention and methodologies.
Implement IEP goals as written and approved for each student.
Assist in the development and / or acquire appropriate curriculum materials to implement with students according to IEP goals as written.
Instruct students in new skills using instructional methods and materials provided by the Classroom Teacher.
Maintain effective communication and follow-through with Teachers and classroom staff regarding targeted IEP goals and methodologies.
Collect and analyze all necessary data and supporting documentation regarding progress with IEP goals, as assigned.
Provide assistance with curriculum modifications.
Model instructional and behavior management techniques for others.
Provide positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior.
Use positive behavior management techniques at all times.
Provide consequences and alternatives for problem behaviors.
Report significant changes in the student's behavior to the Classroom Teacher and Behavior Analyst assigned to the classroom.
Assist Classroom Teacher in ensuring that program is effective and activities are appropriate by making constructive recommendations for possible changes / revisions.
Provide physical management of student's behavior according to the individual behavior plan and appropriate Crisis Intervention techniques.
Attend and actively participate in classroom team meetings to improve student and team performance.
Encourage an atmosphere conducive to helping students achieve their greatest potential in the least restrictive environment.
Ensure posted classroom responsibilities / schedule is completed.
Ensure on-going organization of classroom resources.
Assist Teacher and / or Classroom Coordinator in preparing resources for instruction, as assigned.
Document behavioral and instructional progress as assigned.
Complete clear and concise injury / incident / behavioral emergency reports when indicated.
Attendance at all mandatory meetings and In-service trainings.
Ensure adherence to Anova's policies and procedures and other governing agency regulations and standards as appropriate at all times.
Complete activities relevant to this position as required by the California Department of Education pursuant to maintaining certification as a Non-Public School.
Provide constructive input into Staff orientation procedures.
Ensure that all work is accurately recorded and converted in Central Reach on a daily basis and that your work schedule is evaluated timely according to Anova's policies and procedures.
Complete and submit all administrative paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion.
Complete other duties and assignments at the discretion of the Anova Management Team and under the direct supervision of the Classroom Teacher / School Director.
