• prepares classrooms at the beginning of the day, including picture schedules, data sheets, and other visual supports as needed • assists classroom supervisors and case managers in general preparation for the school day • implements 1:1 instruction of curriculum given by classroom supervisors and/or case manager, as well as, executes behavior plans as directed by Certified Special Education Teachers and/or Behavioral Analyst • provides 1:1 supervision of assigned student at all times • interacts with students appropriately and initiates leisure activities during students’ break times using activity binders and other leisure/free time activities provided • attends therapies with the student in his/her care, observing techniques used with the student to elicit desired responses • uses concepts and techniques taught by the therapists, generalizing the skills with the children during classroom routines • records and dates (day, month, and year) all data including behavior data, data for instructional material, and grading of materials • performs tasks as directed by the Education and Executive Directors as necessary • completes training as outlined in The Center for Autism Education policy book including Safe Crisis Management • effectively uses Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques taught to intervene with a student experiencing crisis, and then notifies Supervisor of the event • completes an event report within 24 hours objectively detailing the crisis • Effectively able to stoop, bend, lift up to 20 pounds, kneel, sit on the floor, walk a distance of up to one mile at a time, and run at a brisk pace in order to support a student who elopes.
