About The Position

The position involves assisting the Registered Nurse in providing patient care based on individualized care plans. The role includes performing basic nursing activities, conducting data collection, monitoring patient status, and ensuring confidentiality of patient information. The individual will also utilize safe patient handling techniques and maintain a clean patient environment.

Requirements

• No experience required; one year of experience in Nursing Assistant, PCT, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomist, or Medical Corpsman preferred.
• Job-related coursework such as Nursing Assistant, PCT, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Technology, or Phlebotomy preferred.
• Licensed or certified in the field of training (Nursing Assistant, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomist, etc.).
• Medical corpsman military training may be accepted in lieu of education and licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as delegated by the RN including sterile and non-sterile soaks, application of dressings, perineal care, removal of foley catheters, basic ostomy care, nasal cannula, phlebotomy, EKG's, and incentive spirometry.
• Performs data collection including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and specimen collection, documenting all data in the medical record and informing the RN of any changes in patient status.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by the RN, reporting lab values to the RN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including transporting patients and assisting with positioning and ambulating.
• Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
