About The Position

The Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA (CCA YMCA) has openings for Site Assistants in our 2025-2026 school year Before and After School Program. Hours are part time with weekends off! Trainings hours are paid and certifications like CPR and First Aid are provided to you at no cost! The CCA YMCA offers a 403(b) Smart Savings Account and free full facility membership to all staff. POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the Before and After School program and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

Requirements

  • Meets educational requirement of a minimum of a High School diploma.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the curriculum and interacts with children within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, designated rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly implement emergency procedures to ensure safety of the children.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, school staff, and Administration. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
  • Assists in maintaining the program site and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly, compliant, safe and positive environment for the students and parents.
  • Enforce the Association’s Policies and Procedures regarding arrivals, departures, absences, incident/accident reports, E-Child Care swipes, fee collection, monthly program calendar, and daily schedule.
  • Attends and actively participates in school events, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. A minimum of 20 hours is required annually.
  • Assist the Site Coordinator in lesson plan activities and the monthly newsletter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
