About The Position

The Before and After School Latchkey person will supervise and engage with children before and after school hours. The Latchkey staff will ensure the safety and well-being of the children in their care while providing a fun and educational environment.

Requirements

• Experience working with children
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude
• Must be certified in Infant/Child and Adult CPR and First Aid (school will provide some training)
• Complete 16 hours of Professional Development in Early Childhood topics (annually)
• Before starting, you must complete the following: Fingerprinted/Background check (through school)
• Bloodborne Pathogens Protecting God’s Children Workshop (available through the Archdiocese of Detroit)
• TB test and physical
• MIRegistry health and safety training
• High School Diploma or GED equivalence
• Availability to work from 6:15-8:15 am and/or 3:15-6:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with children before and after school hours
• Ensure the safety and well-being of the children in their care
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and games
• Provide snacks and homework assistance
• Work effectively both as a team member and an individual to meet the needs of each student
